It's very interesting how certain things are timed.
I had planned to announce my Web site (www.seitzbooks.com) here, but all I've done is reserve the doman name; it should be running sometime in the next month, and just when I need it most.
Last Tuesday the Herald paid me off and kicked me out, so no longer am I the Prisoner of Ludlow. I'm not sure I want to be a journalist anymore, at least not the kind who has to put fattening circulation figures over the interests of the reading public. The job had become a depressing, dreary nightmare, and I was looking for other work anyway. In fact, I had already lined up an interview for Friday when they let me go. I have no doubt they were unconscious of the irony of doing this right before the Independence Day holiday; a sense of humor does not characterize that newsroom. So, I'm going to take a week or so off before really starting to look, work harder at the current novel and the screenplay for a movie my son Dan and I talked about when he was up here last week. Who knows? Maybe in a year or so I'll be a producer, which will certainly beat rifling through zoning permits in Chester. Although if anyone's got leads for writing, editing, or publishing, please leave them here.
